Tutoring for the first time... at a church.
Arthur was so poor thing, cannot find someone to tutor the kids at bethesda church today, so i did him this favour and went down to fill in that space. Haha... it turned out better than i expected. In fact i was kinda having second thoughts after volunteering myself at first. Than it was just "aiyah, he so poor thing, go la." kinda mentality. Quite easy to find my way around the place, found the after-school care quite fast and thus sat there and waited, cuz the person in charge said the kids have gone for their tea break.
Hmm... got this really cute little boy-P4 by the name of Johnathan. When i was first allocated to another kid, this boy came over and kept asking me qns abt his chinese. Then when the first kid left, and i was like left with nothing to do, Johnathan came over and ask me to go sit by him. So i did and taught him the whole of his chinese exercise (haha. i remember doing the exact same assesment book when i was his age). Than he was so happy he could finish in time, cuz when they finish with work, they can go help with gardening. Haha. So i taught this other girl, and Johnathan din leave. He hung around and kept asking me if i was coming back tomorrow, next week, 2 weeks later. Haha. When i said no, this time only coz doing my fren a favour, he went "Huh... why don come back?" SO CUTE rite. haha. Then when his tcher asked him to go down le, he turned and told me after i finish teaching the girl, i muz go down and watch him do gardening. The kids' chinese were all pretty bad, like until i dunno how to explain to them, since even the most basic explaination received a "huh? Speak in english can? My chinese very bad." So its a bit... i dunno, frustrating? Frustrating cuz i dunno how to simplify any further... Then got one chinese word i suddenly forgot how to write... so i asked the teacher, only she didn't know such a word existed. haha... in the end she gave me this dictionary... I did go down and watch the gardening before i left the church. It was really funny. There was this small plot of soil... den the boys were happily digging away in the soil. Haha... and i was talking to the teacher about my own church. Turns out they know Shang Wei(Fen Fen's husband)... haha, no wonder they find my church name familiar. =) After i left, the whole group of kids bid me goodbye. And the church has this fence around it, so all the way from leaving the church to reaching the bus stop, the kids said goodbye to me at least 10 times. Every time they spotted me, they waved goodbye. Johnathan was saying "Must come back ok? Tell your friend he no need to come le." Which is so funny. haha. Joyce at 11:13 PM
